LOCAL VIDEO TOOLS

Video tools

Smaller videos. Always on your device.

Choose a local video, compress it to MP4, and save it to your device. No installation or video uploads.

Preparing this tool…

Controls stay disabled until local processing capabilities are checked.

If the controls do not become ready, retry loading this tool. Instructions and navigation remain available.

Prioritizes quality; output size depends on the video. Uses adaptive bitrate when constant-quality encoding is unavailable.

Smaller target sizes may visibly reduce quality. Preserves frame rate and the primary audio track, re-encoded to AAC. Never upscales. HEVC and AV1 files need a compatible player.

Local processing, explained

  • Uses WebCodecs and requests hardware acceleration where available. Actual acceleration depends on your browser and device.
  • Reads video in chunks, processes it in a background worker, and streams output to local storage. The entire video is never loaded into memory; indexes for long videos still use some memory.
  • Browsers with direct saving ask you to choose an output location first. Other compatible browsers use temporary storage on your device before downloading. Large files need enough disk space. An unexpected shutdown may leave temporary files; clear this site’s browser storage to reclaim space.
  • Stops if the required decoding, encoding, or local storage capabilities are unavailable. There is no server fallback. Use an up-to-date desktop Chrome, Edge, or another browser with these capabilities.
  • Tool assets load on demand and are cached. There are no third-party scripts or cloud transcoding. This page and its assets do not record site visit statistics. Videos and filenames are never sent to the site. Privacy.

Supports unencrypted MP4 / MOV input and MP4 output with H.264, HEVC, or AV1 when your device can encode them. Compression results depend on the source video and browser encoder.

Container processing uses Mediabunny (MPL-2.0), without FFmpeg.wasm.
